In 2001, after working for Bellsouth for over 30 years, my Dad lost his job. What followed were some of the most difficult years for our family. After about a year of unemployment, he was hired back on at Bellsouth on a contract basis. Unfortunately, that was also short lived. The next few years were the hardest of all. He tried and tried to find another position even close to what he had before. I have never seen him so depressed. The hardest part for me was that during this time, I became engaged, and wedding expenses began to come. Being the amazing Dad that he is, he wouldn't give me anything but the best, as far as the wedding went. (Regardless of the cost). After the wedding (which was a dream come true), we all continued to pray that something would still come his way. At his age, and with the salary that he was making, there was a strong possibility that an equal match might not happen. Then, God began to answer our prayers!
Dad got an interview with Cox a few months after my wedding. Several interviews followed, and then things got quiet. He had felt really good about the interview, so I know that it hurt to not hear from them again. Then, out of the blue, he got a call about a position in Kansas. While it wasn't ideal, he agreed that an opportunity was still an opportunity and began to head out for an interview. When he got there, he found out that the position was now in Baton Rouge, La. He got the offer of his dreams and moved to Baton Rouge. He liked it there and absolutely loves his job, but was always sad being away from his family. Well, God has seemed to answer another prayer today, as he found out that Cox is going to transfer him back to Atlanta!!
I wanted to write this blog as an example that God does answer prayers and that dreams come true every day! Sometimes, they just take longer and are more of a struggle to reach! :)
